A properly installed vapor barrier blocks ground moisture from reaching your crawl space or basement floor, sealed at every seam and pier.
Sodus Point, NY crawl spaces and basements see different levels of ground moisture depending on soil type and grading, which is part of why we size liner thickness to the specific space instead of defaulting to the same product every time.
Seam tape and pier wrapping are done to the standard that keeps warranties valid.
Standard-size crawl spaces and basements can frequently be completed in a single visit.
Pricing is based on your space's actual square footage and liner thickness selected, quoted in writing before installation.
We recommend liner thickness based on foot traffic, storage use, and moisture severity, not just selling the thickest option by default.
Every Sodus Point, NY Vapor Barrier Installation job starts with an inspection, not a generic package — here's what that typically includes.
We overlap seams per manufacturer spec and seal them with rated tape, not just tucked edges that separate over time.
This is often done in coordination with a flooring contractor's timeline, and we can work around scheduled installation dates.
Support piers and posts get individually wrapped and sealed as part of a proper crawl space installation, since unwrapped piers are a common moisture bypass point.
Existing vapor barriers with failed or separated seams can often be repaired rather than fully replaced, extending the life of a system that's otherwise sound.
We dispose of old material and debris as part of the job, leaving the space ready for the new barrier.
Tell us the square footage, whether it's a crawl space or basement, and how the space is used so we can recommend the right thickness.
A technician measures the space, checks existing ground cover condition if any, and counts piers or posts that will need wrapping.
You'll see the recommended mil thickness, total square footage, and pier wrapping scope broken out with pricing.
We walk the finished installation with you to confirm seams are properly sealed before calling the job complete.

Yes, pier and post wrapping is included in a proper crawl space vapor barrier installation, since unwrapped supports are a common moisture bypass.
We can scope either depending on your budget and how severe the existing moisture issue is.
Larger or more complex spaces with extensive pier wrapping may take a bit longer, which we'll flag in the estimate.
We can discuss combining it with dehumidification if the smell doesn't fully resolve.
